Clinical Services

I provide comprehensive cardiology care with a focus on structural heart disease, coronary intervention, and advanced cardiac imaging. My approach combines thorough clinical assessment with personalised treatment plans, ensuring optimal health outcomes for my patients. My practice combines detailed clinical assessment with personalised treatment strategies, supported by international training and ongoing research in complex cardiac conditions.

I work closely with a multidisciplinary heart team to ensure patients receive the most appropriate and evidence-based care. I consult at John Hunter Hospital, Lingard Private Hospital, and Lake Macquarie Private Hospital, with clinics in Newcastle, Forster, and Taree. I see patients with both straightforward and complex cardiac conditions, including those requiring advanced procedural assessment.

Structural Heart Disease

  • Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI): a minimally invasive procedure to treat severe aortic stenosis, improving symptoms such as breathlessness, chest pain, and dizziness, avoiding the need for open-heart surgery.

Coronary Intervention

  • Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI): treatment for narrowed or blocked coronary arteries to restore blood flow, relieve angina, and reduce the risk of heart attack.

  • Management of complex and high-risk coronary disease, including left main disease, bifurcation lesions, and heavily calcified arteries, using advanced imaging (IVUS, OCT) and specialised techniques such as atherectomy.

General Cardiology

Assessment and management of:

  • Chest pain

  • Palpitations

  • Breathlessness

  • Hypertension

  • Heart failure

  • Blackouts and syncope

  • Preventative cardiology

  • Expert interpretation of echocardiography, stress echocardiography, and advanced cardiac imaging to guide diagnosis and treatment.

Periprocedural Management

  • Pre-procedural assessment and optimisation.

  • Individualised medication strategies (including antithrombotic and heart failure therapies).

  • Structured follow-up to support recovery and long-term outcomes.

Academic & Research Interests

  • Currently undertaking an MPhil in TAVI at the University of Newcastle, focused on improving the safety and effectiveness of TAVI, including procedural planning, complexity assessment, and patient outcomes.

  • Active in international research with publications in leading cardiology journals, including JACC, JSCAI, Open Heart, and Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions.

  • Regular presenter at national and international conferences.

  • Editorial roles with Heart, Lung and Circulation and JSCAI, contributing to the advancement of interventional cardiology practice.
